All the Dursleys care about is their guests for the evening: When Harry retreats to his room to stay out of the way, though, he finds someone unexpected waiting there: House-elves are bound in servitude to wizarding families.

Draco makes a snake appear, and the snake turns to attack a Hufflepuff second year, Justin Finch-Fletchley. The ability to speak to snakes is one of the things Salazar Slytherin, one of the founders of the school and the supposed creator of the Chamber of Secrets, was known for.
