In this technology project, middle school students become futurists. TechnoFuture has been a favorite for many years. Unfortunately, it is no longer available. The story they produce is written as a Choose Your Own Adventure.
In this style of writing, the reader becomes the main character. On each story page they are given a choice about what will happen next. Will they go to school, meet up with friends, or complete their chores?
The choice is up to the reader! The technology project begins with students researching emerging technology and completing a planning sheet to organize their ideas. Resources are provided to guide students through this step including sample stories, bookmarked articles and online videos.
Next, students follow detailed instructions to produce story pages using various slide layouts and objects. Students learn how to use action buttons to connect the pages, as well as how to modify the slide master to control slide advancement.
TechnoFuture is not for beginners. Instead, it is perfect for middle school students in need of a challenge. Language Arts and Technology TechnoFuture has students develop a story using second person narrative.
The activities have strong curriculum ties to language arts learning objectives providing teachers with a wonderful opportunity to incorporate technology into their education program. Digital tools are used to enhance the message. Science and Technology TechnoFuture can be just a fun science fiction story. If you are teaching an environmental studies, alternative energy, or robotics unit, TechnoFuture can extend learning into the computer lab.
TechnoFuture includes fantastic links to articles and online videos that will get your students envisioning the future. Computer Studies Project Do you want to teach advanced multimedia skills?
